I add the last of the gravel to the project area, covering the landscape fabric over our new fill soil. With this final step, the improper grade is now corrected, diverting rain water AWAY from the foundation. ($2,539.10)

We can now begin re-building the deck.

Amáda and I add posts for the new deck, level them, attach mounting hardware, and install the first beam.

With the help of some neighbors, Amáda and I install the remaining deck beams. Later, I apply the rubberized sealant tape.

Another load of deck building materials is delivered in our driveway. Amáda and I begin adding the first joists to the deck framing.

Amáda and I continue adding joists to the deck framing.

We add more joists, square up the framing, and add lots of angled bracing to our free-standing deck.

We add some more joists in the last few hours of daylight.

Amáda and I work together to install the remaining joists and all of the staggered blocking along the center beam.

We complete all of the deck framing, including joist ties and the staircase framing. The city building inspector signs-off on the framing.

We add sealant tape to every joist in the deck frame.

Later, I start adding the first deck boards.
