Painting continues.

Amáda moves on to painting one of the bedrooms. Meanwhile, I customize a door for the hallway linen closet.

Trim, trim, and more trim.

I measure and cut trim for every room in the basement. I’m keeping the saw and its mess in the garage. This means I have to measure the wall, climb the stairs, put on my shoes and coat, put on my PPE, measure and cut the trim in the cold garage, dust myself off, take off my PPE, take off my coat and shoes, descend the stairs, test fit the piece, label the back side, and repeat. This process is going to take several days.

Meanwhile, Amáda has made great progress with the painting. She has finished one bedroom and moved on to the other.

Know why these posts haven’t had any photos in a while?

Today I accidentally dropped my phone in the hardware store parking lot. Someone picked it up and took it to another city. It’s gone, and so are all of the photos I had stored on it over the last 4 months.

Bedroom doors installed

I install new French doors in the bedroom and two sets of closet doors. I also install the recessed lighting trim kits and the electrical outlet cover plates.

Second bedroom painted

Amáda has finished the second bedroom. I install the light fixture and add the electrical outlet cover plates.

This will be our living room some day.

Amáda is about the start priming and painting the living room. It’s the last big painting effort. Next is door trim and finally baseboards.

Cabinet door handles and drawer pull knobs

The bathroom vanity and linen cabinet have been tough to use without cabinet door handles and drawer pulls knobs. I install matching ones throughout the bathroom.

New flooring has failed and needs to be uninstalled

Our new wood grain vinyl flooring has had problems with the corners lifting. After scratching their heads about it, the manufacturer of our flooring has determined that the adhesive product has failed. Their solution is to demolish the whole floor and replace it with a different product (at no cost to us). The good news is that the new product will look identical to the current one.

The bad news is that I’ve already installed doors, baseboards, trim, base cabinetry, and appliances in several of the rooms. Now, I’ll have to uninstall all of those items. I’m already so exhausted.

Closet systems installed

I install closet systems in our bedroom closets. Unfortunately, they don’t work as designed. The drawers don’t fully open or close because the wheels on the drawer slides collide with the screws that attach the rails to the cabinets. I’m so angry about the poor quality engineering that I’m thinking about uninstalling the whole thing and returning the entire system.
